ET v. TikTok Technology Canada Inc., 2021 QCCS 1520
The Superior Court of Quebec granted the plaintiffs, all members of the same family, an interlocutory injunction valid for 10 days, ordering the defendant to suspend: (a) certain TikTok accounts and all videos published by those accounts; (b) any hashtag which includes the plaintiffs’ names; and (c) any video, status or message published with a hashtag that involves the plaintiffs’ names. The interlocutory injunction also ordered the individual defendant (who allegedly published the TikTok videos for revenge) to remove any video, photograph, message, status, or any other kind of publication concerning the plaintiffs from TikTok, Instagram, Facebook, YouTube, Twitch and any other social media or digital platform.
