Sanderson v. Bennett, 2025 BCSC 118

The British Columbia Supreme Court awarded $85,000 general damages to the plaintiff over defamatory accusations by the defendant made orally on one occasion followed by one email sent to 15 people, all in the context of a strata corporation dispute. Although the Court held the defendant was actuated by malice, punitive damages were not awarded given the limited dissemination of the defamatory expression.
