The British Columbia Supreme Court awarded the plaintiffs (husband and wife) defamation damages aggregating $96,250.  General damages of $57,000 (including aggravated damages) plus $25,000 punitive damages were awarded to the female plaintiff over very serious libels posted on a WeChat forum serving Chinese-speaking residents of a small residential community on the Sea-to-Sky highway between Vancouver and Squamish.  The male plaintiff was awarded $14,250 general damages.  [Note:  an additional award of $12,500 was made to the plaintiffs over the defendant’s obstruction of a shared driveway.]
